What a great day today! Soup Club is back on track, baby, and we're full steam ahead!
Today's offering was brought to us by one of our original members, Conlan. With Nathan gone, we're going to return to the pre-Nathan days...back when we actually thought Conlan made his own soup!
We're extra appreciative today for two reasons. First, Conlan had his fake wedding over the weekend and had a TON going on. Yeah, I just found out about this yesterday and had a slight bout of anxiety. But then I remembered...Conlan always comes through!
Second, this was one hell of a great-tasting soup! Conlan brought us a Thai Peanut Curry Soup today, and we'd all strongly recommend downloading this recipe and making a double batch. It's THAT good!
Before we get to the scores, a few housekeeping items I'm sure you're all wondering about...
Marketing Mike: He was scheduled to be in the house today, but an important personal matter kept him away. We wish him the best as he deals with this double whammy...a personal issue AND missing some outstanding soup! We missed you, Marketing Mike!
Hunter: Rumor had it yesterday that Hunter was back on the Jimmy John's. Yep, highly processed "food" will likely be the kiss of death for most of you. So was anyone really surprised when Hunter called in sick today? One step backward, two steps forward...hopefully! We missed you, Hunter!
Back to business...
Obviously, you've figured out that I loved the taste, but let's see what our expert soup-tasting panel thought of Conlan's creation.
Soup Club Feedback:
Kevin: "If you're going to add the peanut butter, ADD THE PEANUT BUTTER! Not just 1/3 of a cup! Oh, and cut those snap peas in half so they fit in my mouth!" Despite his peanut butter and pea complaints, Kevin thought the taste was excellent. 8.5 without hot sauce and 9.0 with hot sauce.
Jeff: I agreed with Kevin about the snap peas. Cut those things in half! I also thought the broth was too thin, but that's kinda becoming Conlan's signature style. Taste-wise? Outstanding! A solid 10.0 with or without hot sauce. However, I thought there were some opportunities to make this soup healthier without sacrificing flavor. Maybe use light coconut milk or eliminate the sesame oil. So I gave it an 8.0 on the health side, averaging out to a final score of 9.0.
Adam: Adam delivered another well-done, long-winded buildup to his score. Seriously, this guy could turn a soup review into a commencement speech. The final verdict? 10.0! Check out our YouTube channel for Adam's latest soliloquy.
Tam: Agreed that the soup was a little too thin, but absolutely loved the flavor. A solid 9.0!
Josephine: Thought the snap peas were a little chewy. Although I'm not entirely sure how she had any feeling left in her mouth after trying Kevin's Carolina Reaper sauce straight off her spoon! Sorry, Habanero Harman. Apparently we're allowing some extracurricular hot sauce activities around here. Despite the chewy peas and potential loss of taste buds, Josephine loved the flavor and gave it a 9.0!
Soup Club Average: 9.2 Not too shabby, Conlan!
Campbell's Crew™:
Felton: Felton is usually pretty professional around the office. You rarely hear him use profanity. Unless, of course, someone says the word "tofu." I sat next to him after he finished his soup, and jeez...the guy wouldn't STFU about how good it was! He absolutely loved it. This was clearly a 10.0 in Felton's mind, but apparently his pride wouldn't allow anything higher than a 9.5 to come out of his mouth. Take it, Conlan!
And that's that for the week! Another great soup, another great meeting, and another reminder of what Soup Club is supposed to be about. Eat Healthy. Have Fun. We're getting our mojo back!
Next week, Marketing Mike is up to make the soup. Oh, and Felton will apparently be dressed as Willy Wonka and serving as our official ladle dude. Yep…Willy Wonka serving soup. What could possibly go wrong?
